BOWKYLION on confidence, collaborations & carrying Thai pop to the world

Estimated: 4 mins  reading

BOWKYLION has been a defining force in Thai pop, captivating listeners with her poetic lyricism, soulful vocals, and unflinching vulnerability. From the breakout success of her debut album Lionheart to the introspective soundscapes of her sophomore record CHERRY, she’s carved out a sound that’s unmistakably her own — blending alt-pop, R&B, and lyrical metaphors that cut deep.

In 2025, her ascent continues. After winning The Masked Singer Thailand alongside Jeff Satur, dropping her acclaimed duet ‘ที่คั่นหนังสือ (Sometimes)’ with NONT TANONT, and being crowned Best Female Solo Artist at the Kom Chad Luek Awards, she landed in Singapore for a long-awaited appearance at Skechers Sundown Festival. Bandwagon caught up with the acclaimed What The Duck artist for a heartfelt Q&A on her evolution, fears, and hopes for T-pop.

Your performance at Recharge Market Hatyai went viral online. How does it feel watching fan recordings of such intimate gigs, and do these moments influence how you craft your stage presence?

I feel so thankful. It’s always a beautiful thing to have fans who genuinely love and support what I do. Seeing them come to my shows, record videos, and share those moments online—it means so much. As for designing my stage performance, I just try to stay in the emotion of the song and deliver it in the most fresh and authentic way for the audience to experience.

We loved your latest single ‘Sometimes’. How does this track reflect your growth since the CHERRY album, and what was it like working with NONT TANONT?

To me, this song represents something totally new for myself as an artist. As you may know, I’ve rarely collaborated with other artists in the past—not because I’m arrogant or anything, but because I wasn’t confident enough in my own work. I was afraid my music wouldn’t be good enough. But after releasing CHERRY, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. ‘Sometimes’ is the first step in that journey. I’m so grateful to NONT TANONT for agreeing to work with me—he brought a whole new colour to the song and helped bring it to a wider audience. I see this track as the beginning of something fresh, and I hope everyone enjoys it.

Your song ‘Do It Without Me’ earned you the Best Female Solo Artist award at the prestigious Kom Chad Luek Awards. How has this recognition impacted your confidence as an artist in 2025?

First of all, I’m truly thankful for every award I receive. It’s a big encouragement for me to keep creating. Every award means a lot, but if you ask whether I feel more confident, I’d say I’m confident in being not so confident! That doubt pushes me to keep improving and trying new things.

A new remix of ‘Untold’ recently dropped. What inspired the fresh interpretation, and how do you see remixes playing a role in expanding your sound?

I see it as a great opportunity for someone else to reinterpret my song in a new light. I truly believe remixes are a creative extension—they take my music to places even I couldn’t have imagined.

Tell us about winning The Masked Singer Thailand with Jeff Satur. What was that experience like?

I was super excited about that project. It was both challenging and rewarding—definitely a personal milestone. Collaborating with Jeff made it even more special because he’s so talented. I was nervous at first, but we both brought our own ideas to the table, and that chemistry really made the project shine. Winning was just the cherry on top!

We've talked about your career, but what does personal success mean to you in 2025?

It’s finding happiness in the little things—like eating at my favourite restaurant, drawing again, spending time with my dog, or catching up with friends. These are things I didn’t have much time for before, so being able to enjoy them now feels like real success to me.

You just turned 31. Has that milestone caused you to reflect on your journey as an artist?

I’m just grateful—for myself and for the people who’ve helped me get here. I still want to be an artist who stays true to my sound and to what I love. Music is the heartbeat of my life. My next goal? Take better care of my health so I can keep doing what I love for a long time.

Lastly, as T-pop grows on the international stage, how would you like to represent Thai pop to the world?

T-pop has such a unique character. If I get the chance to represent it, I’d love to show the world what makes it special—especially through my voice and the harmonies I embed in my music. I want to offer something honest and uniquely BOWKYLION.
