BTS are releasing a new English single this May, here's everything you need to know about 'Butter'

It's official. BTS are releasing a new digital single this May!

The pop titans revealed the news via a YouTube livestream called "What's melting?" where over 700,000 fans tuned in. 'Butter,'  "a dance-pop track brimming with the smooth yet charismatic charm of BTS" is set to arrive on 21 May, 1 PM KST.

Co-written by BTS leader RM alongside Jenna Andrews, Rob Grimaldi, Stephen Kirk, Alex Bilowitz, Sebastian Garcia, and Ron Perry, the all-English track will make its live debut at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards this May.

The upcoming English single follows the release of their GRAMMY-nominated hit 'Dynamite', best-selling album, BE, and Japanese single, 'Film out.' Pre-save it here.


VINYL AND CASSETTE

'Butter' will be available as a digital single, as well as on limited edition 7-inch vinyl (USD 7.98) and cassette (USD 6.98). Pre-order it here.


CONCEPT CLIPS & TEASER POSTER

Ahead of the single release, BTS shared individual concept clips alongside a teaser poster featuring an assortment of party treats and favours.


TEASER PHOTOS

A week before the single drop, the pop titans unveiled a teaser photo showcasing the members in slick suits and sporting new hair colours.


MUSIC VIDEO TEASER

The 20-second music video teaser features the band in black and white, a groovy synthbass reminiscent of Queen's 'Another One Bites The Dust,' and Jungkook singing "Get it, let it roll!"


'BUTTER' COUNTDOWN

Ahead of the music video release, BTS held a special countdown for fans with the members playing games and making their own special butter toasts.


OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO

The official music video for 'Butter' broke the 'Dynamite' records for most concurrent viewers for music video YouTube premiere with 3.9 million viewers, as well as 112.9 million views within 24 hours of its release.

LIVE DEBUT

BTS will return to the Billboard Music Awards stage on 24 May, 8 AM SGT/PHT for the live performance debut of 'Butter'.

Fans can show their #SmoothLikeButter moves for the group's 'Butter' TikTok Challenge.


LISTENING PARTIES

BTS are holding 'Butter' listening parties with fans for one week - sharing their favourite BTS tracks.

BTS are nominated for Best International Group at the 2021 BRIT Awards, making them the first Korean pop act to be nominated in the category. Their record-breaking concert MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E is also up for the Webby Awards this May. The 'Dynamite' hitmakers are also nominated for four Billboard Music Awards this year including Top Selling Song and Top Social Artist.

The global superstars are releasing a Japanese compilation album called BTS, THE BEST later this June.
