Whether it's a constant slew of thundery showers or the comforting warmth of a summery glow, love can bring a mixed forecast each day. Beyond being just a single emotion, love is an umbrella term which captures bliss, confusion and hesitation. Clara Benin explores every facet and complexity of romance in her stunning EP really got me thinking.
Complete with the evocative lyricism and rich production, the album takes on a more delicate sonic direction creating a more intimate and immersive soundscape that engulfs the listener. really got me thinking is Benin's first time plunging into the depths of love mainly focusing on its euphoric nature. The six-track album flawlessly captures the essence of the emotion, as she opened her heart out to the positivity of the emotion and allows herself to be vulnerable on the record.
Each song on really got me thinking contributes a chapter to the overarching narrative of the EP. Framed as quiet confessions and documented reflections, it depicts the liberating nature of personal and artistic growth that Benin has undergone throughout her career. The refreshing freedom and honesty of the album layered with the lush production create a safe space for listeners to just exist within the world of really got me thinking.

Benin explores the core of the album as she states, "I tried to let the songs hold both feelings at once, the same way they exist in real life. Some moments feel warm and grounded, while others carry a bit more tension or movement. I didn’t feel the need to resolve that contrast and just to let it exist honestly, because love rarely feels like just one thing.”
The beautifully crafted focus track 'wings' drives home the duality of love in how it can be grounding and empowering at the same time. Her vocal delivery enhances the track even further as it almost personifies the contrast between the comfort of being held and the euphoria of being able to spread your 'wings' and fly. Benin elaborates further on the process of the track and its story sharing, "It’s about finding someone who makes you feel safe enough to dream bigger, someone who reminds you of who you can become. So 'wings' became a metaphor for that, for becoming, for growth, and for finally allowing yourself to fly.”
really got me thinking embraces the power of simplicity, harnessing the fundamental power that comes with restraint and vulnerability. While the album tackles complex themes it almost never feels overwhelming or suffocating, through Benin's musical prowess she allows each track to hold its own infusing it with her own style and letting raw emotion and insightful storytelling to take the lead.
An upcoming live show will bring the EP’s introspective mood to life, transforming its emotional depth into an immersive performance. Featuring dreamlike visuals and a curated setlist of the six tracks alongside selected earlier songs, the show is designed to reflect the record’s cohesive sonic and emotional world.

"We’re expanding them just enough to fill the room without losing their intimacy. My live performances are usually more backing track-heavy, but for this show we’re stripping things down and leaning into more live instrumentation adding piano, bass, and live backing vocals to keep everything feeling organic. It still feels very personal, just with a bit more warmth and presence," Clara adds.
With really got me thinking, Clara Benin shapes a tender, reflective body of work that lingers in its quiet honesty and emotional clarity, where love is held in all its contradictions without needing resolution. As she brings the EP to the stage, that same intimacy is carried forward through stripped-back arrangements and organic instrumentation, extending the record’s soft-spoken world into a shared live experience that feels both personal and deeply present.
