David Boring is back with their second single 'Jenny Rotten' from their upcoming third album Liminal Beings and Their Echoes.
Hong Kong–based post-punk and noise collective previously released the first pre-album track 'Nancy Nightmare' on Halloween, staying true to the track's ghoulish title and dark sound. 'Jenny Rotten' rides on that wave of darkness as it presents a thrumming beat that soundtracks the lonely apocalyptic state of a mind slowly wasting away.
The haunting melody captures the sinister nature of feeling a tsunami of sorrow all at once before being left washed up without any emotion before the next wave hits — grieving a severed tie, the track captures torment over a grim, hypnotic dance groove.
Directed by Hong Kong-based rapper and videographer Luckigirl, the upcoming music video that accompanies the track embodies the eerie and sinister nature of the song by being framed in a found footage videography style complete with the glitchy footage that keeps watchers and listeners on edge.
Inspired by the lo-fi terror of Skinamarink and V/H/S, audiences navigate the blurry and grainy scenes through their screens as the video presents barely glimpsed threats and a haunting VR game concept, letting viewers’ imaginations do the scaring.
With the release of 'Jenny Rotten' fans can be sure that the upcoming album is going to pack infectious beats, killer melodies, and some of the most haunting tunes that they've heard from David Boring.
