In a night celebrating various genre and styles, the 2026 SXSW Taiwan Beats Showcase spotlighted the artists that bring colour to Taiwan's evolving music scene, capturing the talents and unique music that the scene has to offer.
The Taiwan Beats Showcase ignited The Venue ATX on 13 March with a sparkling lineup that represented various musical styles, with performances from acts such as Flesh Juicer, Sorry Youth, Pei-Yu Hung, Our Shame, Modern Cinema Master and someshiit. From raw intensity to experimental edges, the night highlighted Taiwan’s evolving sound, bold, original, and impossible to ignore.
The musical celebration began with the Taiwan Beats Day Party, which blends sonic performances with delectable Taiwanese street food, representing the culture in facets such as arts and entertainment, as well as food and beverage, presenting audiences with both enjoyable music and heartwarming meals.

The Taiwan Beats Showcase opened with an electrifying DJ set by someshiit, which got the crowd grooving along to some of his greatest hits. He also dropped an exciting surprise announcement of his upcoming EP THOSE, which amped up the crowd even further. Following someshiit, Our Shame played a spectacular set, performing tracks from their latest release Hidden Album. Blending electronic and folk elements, their set captured the essence of what the Taiwan Beats Showcase stands for and values.

Keeping the fiery vibes going, Modern Cinema Master brought the energy with their high octane 90s-inspired noise, post-punk and lo-fi sounds, sending the crowd into a frenzy, with mosh pits and two-stepping breaking out across the audience. Drawing out one of the biggest crowds of the night was Flesh Juicer. Beyond their performance at the showcase, they continued sharing their signature musical style with an appearance at ACADEMY FIGHT SONGS x HOTEL VEGAS. SXSW’s On the Spotlight series praised them as “a band you won’t forget”, tipping a hat to their chaotic energy and spectacular performance.

With this performance being her U.S. debut, Pei-Yu Hung performed an emotional set from Still Moving, sharing how the experience strengthened her belief that music can take her anywhere.

The night came to an amazing close as Sorry Youth took the stage for their second time at SXSW. In a searing full circle moment, the band performed 'pilgrimage', which was also featured during their previous show at SXSW in 2022. Closing the showcase off with a bang, the band gave the audience something to look forward to as they announced the upcoming release of their new single 'Outta My Way'. Sorry Youth spoke candidly on stage for a moment as they praised SXSW for its global vibe, celebrating music as a force that unites fans everywhere.

Having been a night of music and celebrating artists for their versatility and diversity when it comes to music, the 2026 SXSW Taiwan Beats Showcase lived up to its goal of championing artists, giving them a platform on a global stage to share the power of their music and spread the joy beyond broders. Celebrating culture beyond music through food was also another way to connect with the attendees, driving home the spirit of the festival, making it an awesome showcase of Taiwan's arts, music and culture.
