Hong Kong's live music scene is getting a major upgrade. Live Nation has announced the launch of TIDES, a new 1,500-capacity venue that’s set to change the game for touring artists and event organizers alike.

Slated to open soon in Kowloon’s iconic Whampoa complex, TIDES is the first venue of its kind in Hong Kong — a purpose-built, mid-sized space designed from the ground up to meet the needs of modern live music experiences.

With touring infrastructure built right in, TIDES delivers an efficient, plug-and-play setup for artists and crews. Unlike retrofitted venues or temporary setups, this new space boasts fully integrated sound, lighting, and staging systems, making it easier and faster for artists to roll into town and perform without compromise.

The venue occupies the 1/F and U1/F levels of the Whampoa complex — famously shaped like a cruise ship — and was developed entirely in-house by Live Nation’s Asia team, who prioritized functionality, flexibility, and fan experience from start to finish. Its name, TIDES, pays homage to the area’s rich maritime history while signaling a new wave for live entertainment in the region.

Beyond its tech specs, TIDES is also about the human experience. The venue features dedicated artist support areas, including lounges for downtime and post-show hangs. Its intimate layout is designed to foster artist-audience connection — the kind that turns a good show into a great one.

“International and local promoters have long needed a space like this in Hong Kong,” said Stephanie Bax, Live Nation’s President of Venue Development Asia. “TIDES was built to be that solution — a venue that doesn’t just host music, but actively supports the performance and touring ecosystem.”

The need for a venue like TIDES is clear. Hong Kong’s live event landscape has lacked a professional, mid-capacity option for years — creating a gap between club-sized gigs and arena shows. TIDES fills that gap with a versatile space that can support not only concerts, but also brand activations, corporate events, and creative productions of all kinds.

Live Nation projects up to 250 event days annually, reinforcing its role as a high-turnover venue that caters to the city’s vibrant cultural calendar. Event organizers across industries are encouraged to explore TIDES as a year-round platform for engaging audiences.

Local industry leaders are already recognizing the venue’s potential. Lisa Hui Ping-Sum, Chairlady of the Hong Kong Performing Industry Association, shared that a venue like TIDES could help develop homegrown talent and elevate the city’s cultural capital.

As part of Live Nation’s global commitment to elevating music experiences, TIDES also opens up new partnership opportunities for brands looking to align with Asia’s ever-evolving entertainment scene.
