Building up to the prestigious MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026, MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK just got better featuring legendary guitar maestro Masayoshi Takanaka and renowned Japanese pop star ANRI as performers for the week long celebration.

The two music powerhouses will be taking the stage on 13 June at Toyota Arena Tokyo setting the tone for the upcoming awards. Takanaka and Anri will also be headlining SURF & BREEZE, a live celebration of city-pop sounds on 11 June, as part of MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK.

At a press conference in Shinagawa, organizers also announced other highlights, including The Successor MAJ Hip Hop Tribute, Risuani! LIVE on TOKYO ANIME MUSIC HIGHLIGHTS, and Billboard JAPAN | Spotify’s Women In Music – EQUAL STAGE. Additionally, they also revealed that Kento Nakajima, the chart-topping pop star and actress, Mei Hata, an emerging TV and film talent, are both rising stars shaping modern Japanese entertainment would serve as ambassadors for the second installment of the awards.

During the conference, MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN announced over 2,000 entries across 78 categories for the 2026 edition. Nominees will be revealed next month, with performer details coming soon.
