Nana Ouyang is stepping into a new chapter with Universal Music Greater China (UMGC), returning to the label exactly ten years after her debut.

Announced on 23 September in Beijing, the multi-talented cellist, singer-songwriter, and actress has signed a global agreement with UMGC, covering music development, worldwide distribution, and artist representation across creative projects and brand partnerships.

This partnership marks a full-circle moment for Nana, who first released her platinum-certified debut album 15 under Universal Music at just 15 years old. Since then, she’s expanded her artistry across music, acting, fashion, and digital content — even making the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list for her influence.

“Now at 25, reconnecting with the label makes this moment feel even more meaningful — it’s the best birthday gift I could have wished for,” Nana shared. “With UMG’s global platform, I hope my music can reach more audiences around the world, resonate across cultures, and lead me to discover new creative forms of artistic possibilities.”

UMGC Chairman & CEO Timothy Xu called Nana “a rare blend of musical talent, artistic curiosity, and cultural impact,” praising her evolution from prodigy to a full-fledged cultural voice for her generation.

Nana’s artistic journey so far

  • At 13, admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music with a full scholarship.

  • Released 15, her debut classical cello album, in 2015.

  • Became the first artist from Greater China to collaborate with Disney on Cello Loves Disney.

  • Ventured into singer-songwriter territory with the NANA I, II, III EP trilogy — which she described as her “rebellion at twenty.”

  • Dropped her first English-language album Live Today and Chinese-language album The Star, both self-composed.

  • Released her latest project Love Letter, a cello EP featuring her own original works — with physical editions selling out instantly.

With over 50 million social media followers and a global creative outlook, Nana’s return to UMGC positions her as one of the region’s most versatile young stars to watch.
