PLAVE are rewriting the rulebook for what virtual idols can do — and they’ve just made history again.

Just a month after dropping their first Japanese single album, かくれんぼ』 (Kakurenbo (Hide and Seek)) on 8 July, the group has broken multiple records across Japan’s biggest music charts.

The single album topped the Oricon Daily Single Chart on 8, 9, and 12 July, and later clinched No. 1 on both the Oricon Weekly Single Ranking and Weekly Accumulative Single Ranking with 221,385 points, the highest for any international act in 2025.

They didn’t stop there. 'Kakurenbo (Hide and Seek)' also ruled Billboard Japan’s Top Singles Sales and Hot 100 for the week of 16 July, marking PLAVE’s domination of all four of Japan’s major music charts.

According to Billboard Japan, the album sold over 388,200 copies in its first week — the highest for a Japanese album by any international artist this year.

This isn’t PLAVE’s first chart-topping feat. Back in February, their mini album Caligo Pt. 1 took the No. 1 spot on the Oricon Daily Album Chart, and they made history as the first virtual idol group to break into Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts.

On streaming platforms, they’re just as massive — PLAVE have racked up over 2 billion cumulative streams on Melon, South Korea’s largest music platform.

Their momentum continues this August with the 2025 PLAVE Asia Tour [DASH: Quantum Leap], which kicks off in Seoul before heading to Taipei, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Bangkok, and Tokyo.

All three Seoul shows at the KSPO DOME sold out during pre-sale, with 30,000+ fans in the queue, making them the first virtual idol group to headline the iconic 15,000-seater venue. Both nights at Taipei’s NTSU Arena also sold out almost immediately.
