BTS leader RM will be scaling back his on-stage movements at BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG on 21 March, following an ankle injury sustained during rehearsal.

According to BIGHIT MUSIC, the rapper and songwriter injured himself on 19 March while preparing for the group’s highly anticipated return stage. Medical examinations revealed a sprain of the accessory navicular, a partial ligament tear, and a talus contusion. He has since been advised to wear a cast and limit movement for at least two weeks.

Despite the setback, RM will still appear on stage for the concert — just with modified choreography.

In a statement, the agency shared that the decision was made to prioritise his recovery while preventing further strain. “RM’s on-stage performance, including choreography, will be partially limited,” the label said, adding that his participation will still focus on connecting with fans.

The BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG show marks a major moment for the group, coming just a day after the release of their new album ARIRANG — their first full-length project in over three years.

RM also addressed fans directly during a livestream, expressing his disappointment but reassuring ARMYs. He shared that while he won’t be able to perform at full capacity, he will still be present to “sing and hype everyone up,” and is aiming to recover in time for upcoming performances in April.

The concert will be livestreamed globally on Netflix, with BTS also set for international promotions, including a Spotify fan event in New York on 23 March and appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on 25 and 26 March.

While the injury may shift the dynamics of the stage, one thing’s certain — BTS are still pulling up for their comeback, and fans can expect a heartfelt show.
