ROSÉ became the first K-pop artist to win a trophy at the BRIT Awards, taking home Best International Song for her global smash ‘APT.’ with Bruno Mars.
Held at Co-op Live in Manchester, the UK’s biggest night in music saw the BLACKPINK member triumph in a stacked category that included songs by Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Alex Warren, alongside 11 other major international hits.
While K-pop has steadily gained recognition at the BRITs in recent years, no Korean act had ever secured a win — until now. Visibly emotional as she accepted the award in person, ROSÉ addressed the crowd in an asymmetric black gown, thanking her collaborator and team.
“Oh my gosh it is such an honor to be receiving this award in front of so many talented and admirable musicians in the U.K.,” she shared. “Bruno — I’m receiving this award on behalf of the both of us — thank you so much for everything. For being my biggest mentor and best friend, I love you so much.”
She also expressed gratitude to her Atlantic Records team before giving a heartfelt shoutout to her group.
“JENNIE, JISOO and LISA, I love you guys so much. Thank you for always inspiring me,” she said, drawing loud cheers from the audience. She also thanked longtime BLACKPINK producer Teddy.
Past nominees include BTS for International Group of the Year in 2021 and 2022, as well as BLACKPINK, who became the first female K-pop group nominated in the same category in 2023. This year also saw KPop Demon Hunters’ HUNTR/X — made up of EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — nominated for Best International Song and International Group of the Year, with the trio delivering a performance of ‘Golden’ on the BRITs stage.
