Spotify teamed up with Korean indie rockers Silica Gel for Speakeasy Live — a secret show made just for the real ones. Held in Seongsu, Seoul’s creative hotspot, the one-night-only event brought longtime fans face-to-face with the band in an exclusive gig that felt more like a love letter than a concert.
Invites were handed out through a special draw, keeping the crowd intimate and all-in. From the moment Silica Gel took the stage, it was all about celebrating their sonic journey and the fans who’ve been streaming them on repeat.
The experience is part of Spotify’s ongoing push to connect artists and fans IRL — while championing Korea’s vibrant music scene, from indie and rock to hip-hop and beyond.
Channeling the underground charm of a hidden music bar, Speakeasy Live was built for fans, by fans. The pop-up space came alive with immersive details and thoughtful touches that celebrated Silica Gel’s world — from the moment guests stepped in, they were handed exclusive merch: lenticular cards, slogan towels, wristbands, and commemorative zines, all wrapped in the band’s signature vibe.
Inside, the experience got even deeper. Fans sipped on custom non-alcoholic cocktails at the Speakeasy Bar (each one linked to a Spotify playlist quest), snapped memories at a themed photo booth, and got their hands on rare, limited-edition goods inspired by Silica Gel’s aesthetic.
The night hit its peak with Silica Gel’s electrifying set, featuring fan favourites like ‘APEX’, ‘Juxtaposition’, and ‘NO PAIN’ — plus the live debut of their unreleased track ‘南宮FEFERE’, dropping 10 July with Japanese Breakfast.
Hosted by BDNS’ Sanghoon Moon, the show kept the crowd hyped and the energy flowing.
“It was incredibly special to share our new track with fans for the first time,” said the band. “Huge thanks to Spotify for making it happen.”
Speakeasy Live also marks another big step in Spotify’s push to spotlight Korean indie. K-rock streams have jumped 155% in the past year, and with playlists like Indie Korea and events like this, the platform is going all-in on bringing artists and fans even closer.
