The enchanting, slow-burning ballad illustrates what it means to freeze time in a fleeting moment of presence. The poetic lyricism drives home this theme by saying, "Stand still, just you and me, picture this frame frozen in time."
The track was co-written during university with longtime friend Cohen Bargas (Bridge Dog) and completed years later with ARIA nominated Ghanaian-Australian producer Kay “Kojo” Ansah.
The inspiration behind the track comes from Cait Lin's own experiences such as, a spiritual hike up Mt. Fuji, spontaneous trips with loved ones, and silent moments of connection.
When asked about the writing process behind the album, she shared: "This is the first time I’ve let myself write without hiding behind metaphors. I just wanted to capture that feeling of stillness when you’re completely present with someone—or even with yourself."
The vulnerability in her writing melts together with the soft R&B textures, layered harmonies, and lilting vocals, culminating in a delicate masterpiece that envelops the listener in the unguarded nature of the story behind the song.
The music video pairs beautifully as a visual representation of the tone and message of the track. Directed by Bruce Tsai and filmed in Taipei, it showcases a scene of a dreamscape awash in twilight orange—incorporating Cait Lin's Taiwanese heritage by weaving flickering candles, floating lanterns, and distant silhouettes of Taipei 101 into the scene.
The release of her debut English EP Gradients, marks her first bilingual venture, allowing fans to experience her music through a cross-cultural lens to observe her expanding her sound across genres such as alternative R&B, indie pop, and soul.
