Aspiring songwriters, here's your opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the pop music industry

In their three-part series "The Magic Behind The Music", Songwriters.sg (an initiative by SOOS OIO LLP and supported by OneDay Singapore) provides aspiring songwriters with an opportunity to hear from regionally established and experienced members of the music industry.

Although the first session, during which the role of music producers and arrangers when working with sessionists was discussed, has already passed, it's not too late to catch the final 2 coming up this weekend.

Don't miss Charlie Puth, the voice behind hit singles "See You Again" from Fast & Furious 7, "Marvin Gaye" feat. Meghan Trainor and more, live on this one night only concert!

The first is entitled "Understanding The Music Industry" and features a panel of speakers from K-pop and Mando-pop backgrounds to touch upon topics as "the supply and demand of songs and the industry’s criteria in the selection of songs". The last session "Publishing and Copyrights" gets a little more technical to talk about legal and administrative processes.

So if you're looking for a chance to expand your horizons and better familiarize yourself with the industry (and maybe rub shoulders with a couple of music industry insiders), find out more about each individual session and purchase your tickets here.

This series was organized in tandem with the launch of Songwriters.sg, an initiative intent on providing a platform upon which Singapore's online music community can grow and flourish.

Recognizing that "a creative community where there is a flow of creative ideas and inspiration, with updates about industry is important for the development and growth, individually and also collectively," Songwriters.sg is the sort of thing you could try if you're interested in the business side of things, especially in the pop music industry.
