Every week, Bandwagon invites a guest to do a mix for us. Rather than a standard interview where the artist explains their influences, we figured it’d be more potent if you simply listened to the music.

We provide the context, they provide the sounds.

Bandwagon Mix is closing the month of May with our last DJ from the UNKNWN roster, Emel Rowe.

A party isn't a party without the Metro Manila-based underground DJ and his ability to read the desires of his crowd. He caters generously with the kinds of sounds and beats they crave, unleashing happy chemicals in the brain that would get you dancing until dawn.

Get to know more about Emel below.

How did you get a start in DJing?

Starting with virtual DJ back in first-year high school. Then [I] got in front of a pair of turntables [in] 2nd-year high school and I was hooked. Didn’t really start playing out until after being in Manila for a couple of years. [My] first gig was at the Scarlett lounge. Shout out to Marie Garcia for the push! 

We've been in lockdown for a couple of months now, what do you miss most about playing in a club?

THE PEOPLE! And the sound systems! 

What are you looking forward to when we get back to our new normal?

I don’t want to get back to the new normal. I want the go back to the old normal! 

Do you have a specific cause you want to promote? Tell us why you believe in this organization and how we can help.

With our past streams we got behind PAGASA (They were moving quickly, it’s what we needed at the time), Home For The Golden Gays (Offen overlooked members in the community), UP National Institutes for Health (for test kits that are still desperately needed), and the Manila Protective Gear Sewing Club. Anyone helping out frontliners!
