It's getting even harder to prep yourselves up for the shows, and that's why we've teamed up with Spotify to bring you a monthly playlist dedicated to upcoming gig picks in Singapore, so you won't have any excuse not to know the setlist.

BANDWAGON TV


*SCAPE SG (ALMOST) 50 | 9 August

Almost 50 but never too old to have a birthday bash - the folks at Scape are organising the alt version of the NDP. Less frills, no marching, no cheesy songs, none of it. Instead, there'll be jamming out to homegrown bands like 53A, Stopgap, Anna Judge April, Aspectrum, Tim De Cotta & The Warriors, Orangecove and more. And in true NDP-style, you'll also get a fun pack with assorted goodies and freebies.  


PENTATONIX | 12, 13, 14 August

From winners of a sing-off competition to world touring outfit, Pentatonix have certainly gone a long way. Especially that they will have successfully announced three sold out shows here in Singapore. If you're one of those lucky fans who managed to get tickets to catch these a cappella wizards, you're in for quite a spectacle! Wielding only the power of their voices, they've produced many refreshing covers ranging from a Beyonce medley to theme tunes of your favourite shows. 


IGNITE! MUSIC FESTIVAL 2014 | 15, 16 August

IGNITE! Music Festival returns to the Republic Polytechnic lawn for a two-day all-out local music extravaganza this August! This year in typical IGNITE! fashion, they've invited popular festival alumni to grace the main stage again - bands such as 53A, The Sam Willows, Bear Culture, ORANGECOVE, Aspectrum and Plainsunset are no stranger to the IGNITE! festivities and are back for more this year. Folks can also look forward to seeing newer (but no less exciting) upstarts Gentle Bones, Stopgap and wyd:syd; all of whom have been making waves in Singapore's music landscape over the past year. Already sensational crowd-favourites in the local scene, acts such as Charlie Lim, ANECHOIS, Pleasantry and Shigga*Shay will be making their IGNITE! debut come August 15 and 16. And of course who could forget local alt rock icons Caracal, who'll soon be making their 5th appearance at the Republic Polytechnic green.


LOCALMOTION: LABELS GALORE | 15, 16, 17 August

Get to know three of the coolest homegrown record labels in Singapore - KittyWu Records, Phyla Digital, and Anaki Records in this showcase, Localmotion: Label Galore brought to you by the Esplanade. Each label will be presenting an exciting act of their own to the showcase including Fauxe, Caracal, Before The Tempest, FzPz, The White Trip Movement, and a one-off special performance by post-rock/math rock veterans Amateur Takes Control. 


THE OBSERVATORY: OSCILLA ALBUM LAUNCH | 15, 16 August

Fresh from their Transitions tour across Southeast Asia, Singapore's premier avant-garde rock outfit return with their 6th album Oscilla, featuring a new lineup (SA Trio's Cheryl Ong on drums and Yuen Chee Wai on electronics/synths) with a new forward-leaning and aggressive sound. For two nights at The Substation, catch them live as they launch their new album in a display of the country's finest experimental musical minds, playing songs from their new album and classics from their older catalogue.


AVALANCHE: THE GLASS SILVER LINING RELEASE SHOW | 16 August

After holding recording sessions in Melbourne three months ago, the Avalanche lads have a super-electrifying show lined up for the launch of their debut full-length album Glass Silver Lining - which is already available for streaming on YouTube. The post-hardcore quartet are set to rock Aliwal Arts Centre come 16 August together with an assembly of fellow sonic brutes A Town In Fear, Two Seas, The Caulfield Cult and 7nightsatsea (plus a bonus DJ set by The Planksmith).


ALEX GOOT & AGAINST THE CURRENT | 21 August

YouTube sensations Alex Goot and Against The Current are coming together to put on a double bill at Scape this month. Alex Goot, a one man singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist made his rounds on the interwebs with his soulful choice of covers, collaborations with other cover artists (including Against The Current), and also his original tunes which garnered over 200 million views. Against The Current will bring in something punchier to the line-up with their pop-rock edginess. 


PLEASANTRY: Synapses | 22 August

After several successful EP releases, the indie-pop supergroup formed by members of bands including sub:shaman, Lunar Node, ANECHOIS, Amateur Takes Control, and Postbox will be debuting their album Sypnases at the idyllic Esplanade Recital Studio with a little help from some friends. Join them for a cosy and serene evening as they transport you to places and collective memories. It will truly be an audio-visual experience for everyone alike. 


SUMMERDAZE ft. MOS DEF, SHORTKUT & NEIL ARMSTRONG | 23 August

Australia-based music streaming service Guvera are expanding their presence in Asia, and thanks to a collaboration with Hard Rock Hotel Singapore and Matteblac, international hip-hop icon Mos Def will be holding a performance here in Singapore, and tickets are costing as little as $20! It'll be a full blown poolside block party in Summerdaze, together with DJs Shortkut and Neil Armstrong, Masia One, N'fa Jones and more gracing the Hard Rock Hotel poolside on 23rd August. It's a killer deal folks so get on it quick.


GENTLE BONES: DEBUT EP LAUNCH | 30 August

He found his way into our sonic radars with his singles 'Until We Die' and 'Elusive' that kept us talking for days and now, Joel Tan, under the moniker of Gentle Bones will be releasing his debut self-titled EP this August. With his warm vocals and sincere songwriting, he is set to stay on the radar a bit more. Soak in the mellow vibes of his acoustic-folk stylings at TAB, accompanied by fellow singer-songwriters Samantha Rui and Gareth Fernandez.
