We're close to the end of the year and the gigging scene is only ramping up! This month we have a couple of dance festivals, some intimate gigs, one that will have some moshing going on, a Mandopop crooner, and more! Take a look yourself:
Returning this year, Shut Up and Listen are spreading their wings a little more and including a more eclectic lineup this year. Keeping to the prevalent pop-punk and post hardcore theme of the show will be three Australian bands; Hands Like Houses, Here Come The Cavalry, and Avastera. For something different is loop artist and multi-instrumentalist Kawehi who made it big on YouTube. Monster Cat will be reaping Singapore with their all new lineup which sounds amazing (we got a sneak peek).
For the ultimate party experience at Marina Bay Sands, Play:Live will take you from acoustic to dancefloor EDM in one night. There’ll be the likes of YouTube music stars like Daniela Andrade, J-Pop by way of Nanami Iwamura, local hip-hop duo Trick, our own EDM superstar Tenashar, and many more!
The monthly showcase held at Lithe Paralogue returns with an extensive lineup for October. Featuring only the best and the freshest in the local music community, there’s post-rock Paint The Sky Red, the psychedelic Ellipsis, fusion jazz outfit Taj and electronic musician Blankverse aka Isa F of sub:shaman.
Fashion, flea market, design, music, and artistry come together at this monthly event in the Red Dot Design Museum. Music takes the spotlight in the month of October with The Psalms, Monster Cat, Spacedays and Ellipsis. Head down after a day in the office, grab a bottle of beer at the event, catch the bands, buy some things at the design market - it’s a one stop shop!
A club party on the beach, Illumi Nation is Singapore’s biggest glow-in-the-dark paint parties! Join thousands of clubbers on the favourite party beach as you cavort with the likes of Dada Life, Martin Solveig and more.
Mandopop Hong Kong soul-pop crooner will be stopping by Singapore for his Soulboy Lights Up World Tour 2014. This talented and versatile singer-songwriter specialises in Mandarin R&B, soul and urban blues-rock and will be serenading the audience at The Star with his unique music style.
Copenhagen-based DJ, producer, and remixer Taragana Pyjarama aka Nick Eriksen will hit Singapore this October for a live set at our new favourite spot, Life Is Beautiful Kitchen & Bar. Having already remixed singles for the likes of Delorean, Polock, and Delphic and even invited to join John Talabot’s Hivern Discs stable in 2011, he will be hitting Life Is Beautiful Kitchen & Bar.
If you like your music to be a bit more J-pop/rock, this is your kind of festival. With Ayumi Hamasaki at the helm of the lineup, expect only the most freshest and exciting of Japanese urban music to be joining her. On top of music, A-Nation will also feature Japanese fashion and showcasing some of the nation’s top models
Smooth, cerebral and a downright joy to watch and listen to, Grammy-award winning jazz fusion outfit Snarky Puppy are dropping by our shores this October for a night of lush tunes that synthesises the absolute best of jazz, funk, prog rock, instrumental rock and everything in between. Less of a band and more like a collective (or rather dubbed as ‘The Fam’), the New York-based outfit boasts nearly 25 to 40 accomplished musicians (including guest artists) fluctuating in and out the roster depending on their touring schedules, playing an estimated number of over 180 shows per year.
Our favourite powerhouse diva is back! Since her last visit in 2000, the elusive chanteuse has added so much more to her musical repertoire. Now that she'll be hitting the stage here again, thanks to the guys at Unusual Entertainment, you can be sure to witness the lady with the five octave range again!
