Baybeats 2018 reveals final list of Budding Bands

Singapore's very own alternative music festival, Baybeats, has released the final list of bands who qualified for their Budding Bands programme.

This year's Budding Bands are Trust the Chaos, Glassmouth, Osr313, Dreebsby, Coming Up Roses and Sangriento.

The genres this year are as varied as ever: Trust the Chaos with alt-rock, Glassmouth with mathcore, Osr313 with numetal, Dreebsby with funk, Coming Up Roses with dream-pop and Sangriento with experimental metal. We can also look forward to bands like Glassmouth and Dreebsby performing their recently released material – the former's Observer EP and the latter's two singles, 'Synthesis' and 'Out The Door'.

The Baybeats Budding Bands programme is a mentorship programme formed in 2007 as a way to discover and showcase up and coming bands in Singapore. The bands submit an application and go through rounds of auditions before the panel selects the deserving few.

The selected bands go through workshops that teach them everything from creating a press kit to tips on how to make your drums sound better. The highlight of being a Budding Band, however, still lies in being a part of the Baybeats festival line-up and performing to a large audience.

The initial longlist had a whopping 28 bands. It then was reduced to 16 before the final 6 bands were confirmed.
