BANDWAGON TV

FIVE

A top choice when it comes to the welfare of your wallet, the FIVE brand has always catered to the after-work drinking crowd. Enjoy the never ending $5 deals on food and drinks, while being serenaded by their live music roster they have every day. With a few outlets located around town, there might be one right outside your office waiting for you at 6pm.

C.A.D. Cafe

This joint at Haji Lane stands for “Coffee, Art & Design” and it is pretty hard to miss it, with the cheery blue exterior and being located at a prime pedestrian crossroad. Besides a decent coffee fix, you can choose from a selection of craft beer from Japan, UK, Bali even, and more at CAD. Sometimes they play host to events and live performances, it’s a great place for drinks and kicking back, with some street cred.

Hood Bar

It’s very central, has a pretty good “Crazy Hour” deal and has always been supportive of up and coming local acts. Here’s your chance to discover the next big thing in Singapore, while enjoying that sweet Guinness deal. Make sure to check the FB page before heading there - Hood Bar also accommodates private parties and events.

Skyve Bistro & Bar

While chic and modern, Skyve is still pretty much a hole-in-the-wall established. Nestled at 10 Windstedt Road, in the compound of the old Monk’s Hill Secondary School, it is a neat and cosy eatery specialising in a wide range of wine. You can enjoy some warm acoustic performances some evenings along with a hearty main of beef tartare.

Carvers & Co

Why just settle for a drinking establishment when you can save that stomach for a some proper meat. Carvers and Co champions a good roast, organic drinks, and also the 43 East Coast Series that features some of the best musicians in town. Whet your appetite by checking out their choice grub of the day on their FB page - Carvers also serves a hearty brunch and solid coffee in the day so why not start your drinking (and eating) early.

Kilo Lounge

Not the most convenient of places but the destination’s usually more rewarding than the journey — and in this case, Kilo Lounge’s one place worth the walk. Situated at the top of a lone building in the heart of Kampong Bugis, Kilo Lounge is a sleek and sparsely ornate bar that prides itself on elegance in industrial design. Getting your beer fix here is no problem but the crown jewel of their menu are their specially devised cocktails and bite-sized treats, along with smooth beats that accompany the scenic view exceptionally well.

Artistry

While branding themselves as a family-friendly and art-centred cafe in the day, they serve up refreshing brews and delicious dishes from 5pm. Live music is a staple at the place — offering a delightful mix of musicians that will assuredly make the night far better than your usual bar haunt. It may just be the prime location for you if you’re not too keen on the immensely bustling area of Arab Street nearby.

The Beast

Missing a little Southern hospitality in this Asian country of ours? We’re pretty sure The Beast will cure what ails you with their delightful menu — dedicated to stuffing you with pure comfort food straight out of Texas. Of course, what’s prime American cuisine without some brewskis? The Beast has an array for American craft beers that encompass the different areas of the country, leaving you with many choices.

Highlander

Whether they’ve based themselves on the old fantasy film franchise remains to be seen. What they’ve excelled is embodying franchise star Lambert’s sophistication — whether if it’s their subdued surroundings at CHIJMES or the vibrancy of Clarke Quay. Handcrafted micro-brewed beers, eclectic selections of scotch, spirits, lively house bands — nothing much else you can ask for!

Barbershop by Timbre

A classic favorite with many night revellers, Timbre has been a constant champion of homegrown music. With Barbershop, this tradition barely falters with night after night of lively and eclectic music by local musicians — specializing in jazz, funk and soul. They’re no slouches in the drinks department too as you’ll have access to premium whisky and delicious beers.
