Caracal to represent Singapore as headliner for Skechers Sundown Festival 2015

While we've had the pleasure of witnessing Singaporean acts gracing the same stage as international ones at a festival, whether if it's Laneway or The Gathering, this time one of them will be serving as a headliner — at a festival you wouldn't expect to see them at.

The people behind Skechers Sundown Festival have never been shy in propagating the love for Asian music — they've boasted years of diverse, multi-national lineups that span throughout the continent, bringing in acts as renowned as Indonesia's Nidji and India's Kanika Kapoor, along with the influx of visually-impactful pop groups from South Korea and Japan.

For 2015, however, they've also taken notice of the exponential growth of Singaporean talent that's active in the independent scene. As such, they've taken the liberty to include a few acts that have made waves themselves.

Presented as one of the main headliners for Skechers Sundown Festival 2015, ferocious post-hardcore outfit Caracal have been included in a crop of acts that also include Japan's INKT, Thailand's Potato and Indonesia's J-Rocks

Representing the island as Fringe Acts would also be indie-rock quartet Cashew Chemists, singer-songwriter Cheryl Loon and new pop-rock band Farrago.

“The local music scene has evolved positively over the years, and we now see more local bands making it big within Singapore and internationally," says Samantha Chan, director of festival organizers Red Spade Entertainment. "We are keen on giving them a place to showcase their talent, especially one where they can share the stage with other top regional bands.”

Skechers Sundown Festival has been a reputable platform for Asian acts since 2009, representing the main genres of rock and pop while maintaing a balanced and diverse lineup every year. This will mark the first time any of the Singaporean acts mentioned will appear at the festival. This year's edition is set to happen on November 21, 2015 at Marina Promenade, F1 Pit Area.

“Skechers has a long history working with global music artistes," says Susan Chua, Vice President, Skechers ASEAN. "We’re excited to be presenting the Festival once more to show our support towards the progress of Asian music, giving a platform to Asian musicians to showcase their unique sounds."
