In the lead up to its release, Decipher's Strange Comfort had plenty of hype and context going for it.
The second release by the post-hardcore band, Decipher were remarkably open about the process of the EP's creation. "Juggling the weight of National Service, meagre army salaries and the pains of a quarter life crisis, the guys found themselves traveling back and forth from the studio, back to work and from work back into the studio," the band write in their press release.
They even released studio diaries, and everything — while pointing to personal stories that aren't very different from many other aspiring bands in Singapore — fits within Strange Comfort's hopeful, mercurial narrative.
It's an intensely personal release, one highlighted by swelling crescendos and the chaos of day-to-day life in the country, but one the band hopes to share with as many people as possible.
The results are pretty captivating. Listen to the EP below.
