This collaboration births, once again, Project Aloft Star — running for its second year in Asia.

Aiming to discover and support budding new singer-songwriters (which could be you), this project is open to unsigned artistes from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, China and India. If you feel you're ready to put yourself out there for a global audience to judge, you can try your luck by submitting your best performance in an original video.

Even before the winners are determined, all shortlisted participants have a chance to perform in front of a panel of judges. If you emerge as one of the top three winners, not only will you get win cash prize of USD$10,000, you get a chance of being featured on MTV. Not bad, eh?

“Project Aloft Star is an inspiring initiative that celebrates today’s young generation and their creative talents. Through our second year collaboration with Aloft Hotels, we’re unlocking the passion and creativity of our audience by providing them with an amazing platform to showcase their music talents and connect them with new opportunities and fans across Asia. We can’t wait to see what this year’s competition brings!” says Paras Sharma, Vice President, MTV and Digital Media, Asia, Viacom International Media Networks.

Past winners from the Asia edition of this project include GTXperiment, Natania Lalwani and PandaBros, who all have been invited to several performances throughout Asia and are now working on their new releases. Brooklyn based synth-pop band My Body, the winner of the global Project Aloft Star 2013, also had the chance to tour around the world after their win.

Now if you've been eyeing the local festival stage yourself and want a more direct way to get there, the ever-consistent and ever-exciting IGNITE! Music Festival has opened its doors to all bands in Singapore. If you've been to any edition for the past few years, you'd know it's a great way to get your music out there. You'll just need to drop them an email at events2015@ignitemusicfest.com with a 10-min YouTube video of your band performing either an original or a cover.

The deadline for Project Aloft Star ends on July 20 while IGNITE! will close submissions a day earlier on July 19. Fun and excitement awaits. Now get to work.
