For the past two weekends, 100 Bands set the stage for a barrage of Singaporean bands to perform deep within the East side of the country.
As the third, and final, weekend approaches, there is still plenty to look forward to from September 30th to October 2nd — and it's not just the live music.
The line-up boasts a hefty amount of heavyweights, what with the highly-anticipated returning sets by Amateur Takes Control and Force Vomit, along with the perfectly strategic timing for I Am David Sparkle to close the entire three-week run on Sunday night.
There are also appearances by sporadically-active bands Typewriter and This Is Atlantis, along with other notable names such as Cashew Chemists, Plainsunset, The Psalms, Truth Be Known, Pleasantry, Radigals, Quite Quiet, Shak'thiya Subramaniamm, Seasight, and so much more. There's also a secret band performing before Amateur Takes Control, so you'll have to be there to find out!
With the remote location of the festival along 391A Tampines Rd, taxi or car rides are highly recommended (from experience, of course), but Bus 72 works just fine — just remember to stop at bus stop 64189 if you take the bus from Tampines, and 64181 if from Yio Chu Kang.
We can state for sure that the ride will be worth it, with The Lab refreshing sodas and burgers on sale, along with Encik Rizal's famous cuisine of Muslim and Western food at Tuckshop x 100 Bands, which will be a party in itself with sets by Yadin, Vortex, Roy, Kaye and more. Local craftsmen and artists will also be displaying and selling their wares, and Straits Records will provide some fun crate-digging amidst the live performances.
Here's why people are excited about Amateur Takes Control's comeback.
