As we approach 2017, we'll look back at 2016 as a remarkable year for viral hip-hop — from Desiigner's unexpectedly catchy 'Panda' to one of many DJ Khaled's Snapchats and music videos, it was a glorious year for rattling beats with sizzling memes.

But, nothing stands out more than a little music video that spawned inside Indonesia.

Vine entertainer and eventual rapper Rich Chigga, real name Brian Imanuel, initially made waves with his video for single 'Dat $tick', a song even more catchy than 'Panda', and a music video that outshines 'Hotline Bling' in all its fanny-pack glory.

Ever since a video featuring the reactions of several US rappers towards 'Dat $tick' surfaced, Rich Chigga has received attention from around the world, and the 16-year-old is brewing up more songs in hopes of building upon — or even besting — the surprise success of 'Dat $tick'.

Meanwhile, the song is still on many, many party playlists, and the song has yet to grow old. With Indonesian metalcore band Paling Berisik, they pay tribute to Rich Chigga the only way they know how — a balls-out cover of 'Dat $tick', with a clip mimicking the music video's setting.

EDIT: Paling Berisik is actually an alternative music site, not a band as previously reported.
