DJ Mag is popularly recognized as the definitive publication in the world of electronic music - which is why its year-end rankings are always the subject of much hype and controversy.
So as you can imagine, being asked to craft a mix for the vaunted publication is kind of a big deal for any DJ. And it just so happens that for this week's edition of their Fresh Kicks mix series, they've invited Singaporean drum & bass legend Kiat aboard to do what he does best.
Hot off recent releases on Germany's Defrostatica, Singapore's Phyla and his own Syndicate imprint - "The Godfather" goes confidently into this one with a half-time friendly and muscular mix that absolutely shows off Kiat's many strengths as a selector.
As DJ Mag describes, "The Singaporean's Fresh Kicks mix is an intriguingly perculiar beast. Beginning with no more than ambience and a vocal sample, it works its way through various forms of half-time drum & bass and jungle, focusing in on bulging basslines and jittery drumwork."
