A Change.org petition has been set up to make The Killers' iconic song 'Mr. Brightside' the theme song for the 2020 Singapore National Day Parade (NDP). 

According to a report by AsiaOne, a user by the name of Nick W proposed that for next year's NDP, the viral hit should be the theme for Singapore’s 55th birthday. 

In the online petition, Nick W did not give much explanation as to the rationale behind it, rather he gave his own twist to the first few lines of 'Mr. Brightside': 

Coming out of my cage and I'm not doing just fine. The only problem here is that Mr Brightside is not the NDP song for every year. It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this? Don't wait anymore, open up your eager eyes, destiny is calling."

The petition is aiming for 100 signatures, of which 10 have already endorsed as at time of publication.
