English alternative rock veterans Placebo are set to medicate Singapore once again come August 27 at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel, thanks to Universal Music! Now armed with an upcoming album Loud Like Love (their seventh studio record) due to be released on September 16, Singapore will be one of their stops in their worldwide 2013 tour.
Placebo was one of those bands that you discovered during your teenage alt music phase, listening to songs such as "You Don't Care About Us", "Every You Every Me", and "Song To Say Goodbye" on repeat. But really, what we love about Placebo was that they were a gateway to discovering other similar-sounding acts such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Sonic Youth and more. Such is the diversity of their music.
Now in our adult life, Placebo still maintains the appeal - their newer material reflecting a maturer poetic conviction, with a gift of experimentation and progression of the punk rock/alternative-rock sound while still being as witty and smart as ever in wordplay. They've proven themselves to be staples of brit rock and it looks like they're going to stay that way. Here's a couple of songs to refresh your memory a little.
