Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ clocks in 1 billion views on YouTube

The iconic music video for Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has become the first video made prior to the 1990s to hit 1 billion views on YouTube. To commemorate this, the band released a remastered version of the 1975 music video and launched the You Are The Champions campaign, in which fans can take part in the making of three new user-generated Queen music videos.

First released in 1975, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ challenged the musical norms back in the day and was initially not well-received by music executives. Decades later, the near 6-minute song has since become one of the most iconic songs in music history.

In a social media post, Brian May and Roger Taylor had this to say about the You Are The Champions campaign, “We are honoured that Bohemian Rhapsody has just hit one billion views on YouTube. We want to thank you all and celebrate with our amazing fans all around the world by creating three new music videos to our songs, all featuring you!”

Interested parties can visit the official You Are The Champions page for more details.
