Randy Brecker, Lewis Nash, Jeremy Monteiro and more to perform at Lion City Youth Jazz Festival 2018 finale

The second annual Lion City Youth Jazz Festival is right around the corner, and the performers for the finale showcase have been announced.

The Lion City Youth Jazz Festival is a programme that centers around youth-musician-focused learning and immersion over the course of five days, leading to a showcase concert. The five-day course includes workshops, intensive rehearsals and more high-level professional situations which aim to prepare youth musicians for the life of a professional musician and hone their skills.

The mentors will perform with their mentees at the end of the 5-days, alongside the Jazz Association Singapore Youth Orchestra (JassYO!). This year's mentors include Singapore's own Jeremy Monteiro (pictured, left) and Weixiang Tan, as well as prolific jazz musicians Randy Brecker (pictured, middle), Lewis Nash (pictured, right), Antonio Hart, Ulf Wakenius, Jay Anderson, Joe Darin, Marques Young and Tom Walsh

The first half of the concert will showcase jazz arrangements of songs and tunes from Singapore and the region, while the second half will pay tribute to legendary trumpeter Miles Davis.

Apart from the performances, Jazz Association Singapore (JASS) will be launching a JASS Scholarship Programme. The scholarship programme – which is awarding one local scholarship and one overseas scholarship – is the first ever scholarship programme in Singapore dedicated to jazz. Two successful candidates will be presented with their respective scholarships at the Finale Concert.

The Lion City Youth Jazz Festival 2018 Finale Concert will take place on Saturday, 26 May at the SOTA Concert Hall. Tickets are now on sale, with passes available from S$35, $60 and $95. Get your tickets here
