Singapore Rhapsodies pairs up emerging indie musicians with prominent pop stars

Inspired by the success of last year's golden jubilee Sing50 concert, it's organizers have decided to keep the concept rolling with a brand new annual music festival, called Singapore Rhapsodies – The Concert! Aiming to showcase the very best of homegrown talent - from up-and-coming indie musicians to established pop veterans - this grand event certainly presents local artistes with an extremely visible platform to reach out to the mainstream community.

Supported by the Sing50 fund, "this initiative was created with the vision to sustain the momentum in promoting Singapore works among local audiences; and perpetuate the drive for creativity and creation among local musicians." Its definitely a worthwhile endeavor that's further bolstered by the quality of its lineup.

Featuring names such as RaghaJazz, Daphne Khoo and Nathan Hartono, you can already tell that their programmers have done their homework. But outside of those solo performances, for our money, the most intriguing aspect of Singapore Rhapsodies has to be the slew of unique musical collaborations they've lined up for us.

Surging indie pop outfit Take Two will be performing with Malay music legend Art Fazil, while charming crooners Charlie Lim and Sezairi have been partnered up for what should be a beautifully soulful exchange. In addition, standout singer-songwriter Ling Kai will also be linking up with The Freshman's Chen Diya for a very special collaborative performance.

And besides the music, the will also be array of activities for the whole family to enjoy, such as local food delights and an art market curated by Togetherly.

Singapore Rhapsodies – The Concert happens at Palawan Green (Beach Station Sentosa) on 27 August. Click here for more details.
