LISTEN: Teen Suicide's sprawling lo-fi pop masterwork, It's the Big Joyous Celebration, Let's Stir the Honeypot

Baltimore's Teen Suicide has always been a painfully personal and intimate project. Records like waste yrself and i will be my own hell because there is a devil inside my body went perfectly hand-in-hand with the band's forthright band name.

And with the seemingly stream-of-conscious and dreamy construct that formed their early work, It's the Big Joyous Celebration, Let's Stir the Honeypot feels like the band's first true album. The first song 'Living Proof' is already brimming with surprising stylistic turns, heading towards the grandiose in its deliberate lo-fi, indie rock fashion.

The album is messy with brilliant and diverse ideas, pulled together by a sense of adventure and theatricality, without losing the sincerity that has made them a cult favourite in the past few years. It has its moments of immediacy, but this will be a grower.
