The Bandwagon to Urbanscapes 2014: Meet Our Emcees

ESTIMATED

We're only a month away from Urbanscapes and we're already busy picking what to wear on our trip. With the recent announcement of Kimbra and Jagwar Ma added to the line-up, the festival's looking sweeter by the minute but we're most buzzed about the trip itself. We always love travelling in style and now we're sharing that to you! Live music, games, activities. It's going to be a heck of a ride and it will all be made even more engaging with our emcees.

These four personalities weree personally picked after an exhaustive process that involved lots of bickering in the office that may or may not have included Red Bull cans thrown at each other. Tasked to be the ultimate purveyors of fun for the entire trip, it isn't an easy task but we're absolutely certain they'll live up to it. But don't just take our word for it. Let us introduce the official emcees on The Bandwagon.

AARIKA LEE

BANDWAGON TV

Best known for her stint with funk/hip-hop collective SIXX, Aarika Lee has gone on to continue singing while appearing as a front cover girl for JUICE and bring supermum to daughter Zola Mae.

You're going to be an emcee on a bus! How do you feel about being a part of this inaugural, first of its kind event?

Super psyched! I'm not emceeing on just any bus, it's the Bandwagon Festival Bus! Being a part of something awesome and unprecedented is always cool but even more so because it's an opportunity to do it with family from the music scene.

What can we expect from you? (ie. will you tell lots of jokes, join in the performances maybe?)

Oh lord, I don't know about jokes, man. But I'm definitely up for jamming with the musos. I think I'm gonna pack my Microkorg for the ride and see what happens. Maybe we'll write some songs! This road trip is going to be something else. You can also expect a lot of pictures and videos to be taken - I definitely wanna make sure I capture the Bandwagon Festival Bus experience proper.

What is your one pet peeve/ thing you hate most when on a road trip?

Not wearing the right pants. I'm telling you, it's key to a successful road trip.

What is the one thing you cannot travel without?

An open mind.

HIDZIR JUNAINI

Hidzir Junaini is a journalist and the former Music Editor of JUICE Magazine and Deezer. He's since gone on to become a freelance film critic for inSing.com by day and an all-purpose writing ronin by night. In his spare time, Hidzir is also the resident party planner for local creative collective DUNCE.

You're going to be an emcee on a bus! How do you feel about being a part of this inaugural, first of its kind event?

I'm beyond excited to be a part of the Bandwagon Festival Bus. Getting to see Local Natives in the Genting cold is a pretty darn awesome destination, but as the saying goes, the fun is indeed in the journey.

What can we expect from you? (ie. will you tell lots of jokes, join in the performances maybe?)

I've never really emceed or hosted anything before so I'm not sure what my shtick will be. But I do promise that I'll try to keep the banter breezy and maybe even funny! And hey if you don't laugh with me, its fun to laugh at me too. I must also apologize in advance if (when) drunken bouts of bus karaoke ensues.

What is your one pet peeve/ thing you hate most when on a road trip?

Sitting next to or nearby crying children. I just can't.

What is the one thing you cannot travel without?

A book! Travel typically involves lots of waiting around, and there's nothing that kills time quite like a good novel. I just cracked open Michael Chabon's 'The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay' and its 639 page behemoth so I expect it'll still be in my backpack when Urbanscapes rolls around.

ADIN KINDERMANN

Adin Kindermann enjoys delicious unhealthy foods and beer. He is also the frontman of Singaporean band Stopgap, an independent alternative/indie rock band that strives to deliver high energy grooves and delicate melodies.

You're going to be an emcee on a bus! How do you feel about being a part of this inaugural, first of its kind event?

I'm clueless! It's going to be my first time attempting to emcee but i'm sure it'll be tons of fun! I think it's a great idea, having a whole bunch of people involved in the local music scene on a roadtrip to urbanscapes, gonna be a blast for sure.

What can we expect from you? (ie. will you tell lots of jokes, join in the performances maybe?)

My band and I are known for horrible jokes so there will be no shortage of bad puns, jokes and innuendoes. Who knows what'll happen if everyone's spontaneous enough right?

What is your one pet peeve/ thing you hate most when on a road trip?

I honestly have no idea. Too much whining maybe?

What is the one thing you cannot travel without?

That would be booze and music.

JUHARDI MOHAMED

As a core member of our Bandwagon team, Juhardi Mohamed is best known for his viral comedic posts on our social media accounts (remember Anakonda?). He's also been well-respected as a tour manager of local bands and is currently a member of DUNCE.

You're going to be an emcee on a bus! How do you feel about being a part of this inaugural, first of its kind event?

Stoked! Never done this before but am really excited, it should be fun. Roadtrip! Hop on the Bandwagon!

What can we expect from you? (ie. will you tell lots of jokes, join in the performances maybe?)
Mostly bad jokes. Annoying bad jokes. And usual bad puns. Sometimes spontaneous frolicking.

What is your one pet peeve/ thing you hate most when on a road trip?
Smelly feet from the man sitting in front.

What is the one thing you cannot travel without?
IPod. Long journey without music is a no no.
