The Breakfast Club detains Plainsunset, 7nightsatsea, Forests and more at Canvas

Good news for all you John Hughes fans and local music lovers out there, Canvas (and their Flash umbrella) will be throwing a huge The Breakfast Club themed party this Labour Day weekend!

The nightlife hotspot hasn't really done a band gig since last Halloween's fabulous Ultra Violence party, so we're glad that they'll be bringing back a live element to their Riverwalk space this Saturday. And best of all, they've lined up a pretty stacked list of acts that'll last all the way from 7pm to the early morning.

Featuring pop-punk heroes Plainsunset, post-rock connoisseurs 7nightsatsea and emo-math standouts Forests at the top of the bill, this one should be an incredibly fun and energetic night out. And outside of the vets, promising younger outfits such as ambient instrumentalists hauste, acoustic emo troubadour traveLog and lo-fi dream-poppers SUBSONIC EYE will also be rounding up the bill.

Once the live bands are done, regular Canvas DJs like Roy, Mr. Black and Ginette Chittick (of BEAT! fame) will be taking over the decks for what we assume will be a glorious mix of 80s hits and indie anthems.

Flash presents The Breakfast Club happens on Saturday, 30 April at Canvas. Click here for more details.
