Watch YouTube Superstars Us the Duo React to Singaporean Bands

ESTIMATED

Having made a huge impact from their days of performing six-second covers on Vine, Us the Duo have since clinched a major label deal with Universal Music, garnered over a million subscribers and 61.3 million views on YouTube and performed to sold-out audiences around the world — including many fans in Singapore, who call themselves Us the Family, when they played at Kallang Theatre last December.

Back in Singapore for a showcase at Serangoon Gardens' myVillage shopping centre early this month, we grabbed the chance of talking to the wonderfully warm and affable couple and we decided to do something different from our usual interviews.

Armed with a playlist, we got them down to listen to some of our favorite songs by Singaporean bands and give their off-the-cuff judgement. Of course, we weren't planning to settle for something we'd imagine the American singers would enjoy — we couldn't resist adding a bit of grindcore and electronic music for flavour, along with a variety that speaks volumes of Singapore's music scene.

Watch them try out acts like The Analog Girl, Charlie Lim, ANECHOIS and even Wormrot — while also playing a few rounds of Connect Four.

Special thanks to Universal Music Singapore for setting it up!
