Aspiring DJs, pay attention: the Phuture DJ Battle is open. The annual competition by Zouk Singapore is now accepting online submissions for DJs to battle it out for acclaim, glory and sweet, sweet prizes.

The club has been running the showcase ground-slash-talent search since 1997, scouting for and nurturing many talented turntablists. Last year, the battle shifted to a format of online submissions, which it will be continuing this year via Facebook. Would-be participants have a month from today to get their submissions in.

Five veteran DJs – DJ Rattle, Koflow, Zushan, DJ Ghetto and DJ Inquisitive – will sift through the submissions, judging based on originality (30%), skills (30%), track selection (30%) and presentation (10%).

On 9 July, Zouk will announce seven finalists, who will be joined by the winner of the recent Live Mix Maestro competition to form the top eight. These finalists will have till 5 September to prepare four three-minute sets for the live elimination battle, where they will compete in back-to-back sets.

And what's up for grabs? Besides the opportunity to spin at Zouk Singapore, there's also plenty of swag for the top three winners: a grand prize of a *direct flight for two to Berlin with Scoot, limited edition Sennheiser HD 25 headphones, luxury bed and breakfast stays at Andaz Singapore, three pairs of Adidas sneakers from Zalora, and X-mini products. Whew.
