10cm We Are Close Enough live in Singapore

Korean acoustic-folk indie singer, 10cm (Kwon Jung-yeol), will be performing together with his band in Singapore for the first time ever on 18 November 2019, 8PM at Esplanade Annexe Studio.

10cm is the original voice behind the OST hits “My Eyes” from 2017 most talk-about Korean drama Goblin (starring Gong Yoo) and “Lean On Me” from 2019 hottest Korean drama Hotel Del Luna (starring IU).

Debut in 2010, 10cm walked into the indie scene with their first EP and has since became a household name in Korea. 10cm was initially a Korean indie duo and the name of the band refers to height difference of the two members. Due to personal reason, the guitarist (Yoon Cheol-jong) had to leave the group. Main vocalist, Kwon Jung-yeol however still continue as a one-man band on his own under the name of 10cm bringing acoustic-folk music to their fans.

Since the first EP release, they released their most well-known hit single “Americano”. The single was soon well-received by many and became popular in Korea because of its lively melody and fun to sing-along lyrics, together with the melodious voice of Kwon Jung-yeol.

Their first official album “1.0” released in the following year sold over 20,000 copies which was remarkable in the era whereby consumers have the tendency to download music online. This also shows that there is a strong niche following in the acoustic-folk genre in Korea. 10cm won “This Year’s Discovery Award” at the 2010 Mnet Asian Music Awards, and “Best Pop Song Award” for “Tonight I’m Crazy” at the 2011 Korean Music Awards.

In the same year of the release of their debut album, their song “Hold Me” reached #16 on Billboard K-Pop Hot 100. A remake of the song, titled “Hug Song”, was released in 2013 as a collaboration between 10cm and Orange Caramel. Another successful hit single, “What The Spring??” peaked at #1 in Korea’s Gaon Music Chart in 2016.

Chen from EXO had mentioned on a radio show that 10cm was one of his dream collaborators as he had been listening to his music since high school. In 2017, dream was made into a reality as 10cm and Chen co-wrote a new song “Bye Babe” together. The funky pop/rock track has a bubbly folk vibe, with a mix of sweet and emotive vocal blend together over the sweet melody.

10cm (Kwon Jung-yeol) also participated in popular Korean singing variety show, King of Mask Singer. His voice captivated the audience and panel of celebrities whom they casted their instant live votes for him which eventually led him to having two consecutive wins as Mask King.
