Fresh from headlining the Singapore International Live Looping Festival in California, USA, among other appearances, Kai returns to the Esplanade stage, this time to revisit his musical beginnings in an intimate show featuring both acoustic originals and his unique brand of live-loop beatboxing.
Kai is a Singaporean singer-songwriter, beatboxer, live-looping artist, and a member of local a cappella group, Vocaluptuous. He forayed into beatboxing in 2007 and learnt the art on his own, never undergoing formal training. Since then, he has competed, performed, and taught beat-boxing locally and internationally. More recently, he was invited to judge the National A Cappella Championships Beatbox Battle in 2014, a rare honour marking his transition from competitor to adjudicator.
Kai released his independently-produced debut, the acoustic indie folk/pop EP, Beginnings, in May 2014, which received praise from critics such as Popspoken, Power of Pop, and TheSmartLocal.
