English producer and musician Jon Hopkins writes his own melodic electronica and dance music. Try imagining over 800 sounds in a single 9 minute track and you wouldn’t be blamed for thinking of a high-speed plane crash of chaotic noises and explosions, sweeping you away glitch by unexpected glitch. In truth, Hopkins does it in such a subtle and dynamically restrained manner, a result of training as a classical pianist for the Royal College of Music during his younger years.
