 an American singer/songwriter best-known as the frontman for the now disban
 ded San-Francisco indie-rock band Girls&mdash\;and for his curious backstor
 y\, which features both a fundamentalist cult and an eccentric Texan multim
 illionaire. Since his departure from Girls\, Owens has been recording music
  independently\, attempting through his writing to confront in reflection t
 he realities of his childhood.</p>\n\n<p>Girls&#39\; sound was heavily insp
 ired by the music of the 1950s\, 1960s and 1970s\, with their sound being d
 escribed as lo-fi\, surf rock\, rock and roll\, psychedelic rock\, pop rock
 \, country rock and garage rock.</p>\n\n<p>Girls&#39\; debut full-length\, 
 Album\, was released in 2009 to critical acclaim. Its 2011 follow-up\, Fath
 er\, Son\, Holy Ghost\, was also well received.</p>\n\n<p>In 2012\, Owens a
 nnounced that he was leaving the band and would continue to record as a sol
 o artist.</p>\n\n<p>In September 2012\, it was announced by Saint Laurent P
 aris (formerly Yves Saint Laurent) that Owens would be the face of their Sp
 ring/Summer campaign\, to be shot by returning Creative Director Hedi Slima
 ne. A promotional video was released during Paris Fashion Week featuring mu
 ltiple black and white images of Owens edited to the audio of Girls&#39\; &
 quot\;Just A Song&quot\;.</p>\n\n<p>In October 2013\, Owens became the new 
 face of the H&amp\;M campaign promoting the Isabel Marant range.</p>\n\n<p>
 Owens released his debut album as a solo artist\, Lysandre\, in 2013. In 20
 14\, Owens released his second album\, A New Testament. In 2015\, Owens rel
 eased his third album\, Chrissybaby Forever.</p>\n
