Debra Khng

During a gap year in 2010, Debra found herself waitressing. While she can’t remember exactly why, she still remembers the entire restaurant playlist. Broke and disillusioned, she found herself with nothing more to lose; she was free to chase her music dreams. Armed with a voice recorder and a notebook, she wrote her first song Strangers on bus rides from Labrador Park and debut it at OOOM@SAM where she was a finalist. Subsequently, she began writing and singing at cafes and open mic sessions. She has since performed at Broun, Black Café, MAAD, Hood Bar, Tab, library@esplanade and the Esplanade Concourse. Her upcoming debut EP Wolves In The Night is a six-track chronicle of love, loss, and youth. Influenced by 70’s and 80’s pop and soft rock, her songs are distinctly melody-centric with lashings of old school nuances. She hopes her music will find a place in the heart of the listener.
