From an early age Ghoshal has been surrounded by music and she inherited her music legacy from her mother. At four years old she began her music lessons , progressing and incorporating Hindu Classical music which she continued to study in her later years. It was during this study period that her love for Bollywood blossomed as she moved to the capital New Delhi in hopes of making it. Shreya's career pursuit began in 1995 when she won the All India Light Vocal Music Competition and also went on to win the musical reality television game show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa".
