Esplanade Foreword February: Nusantara Arts

Poets are winners of a poetry writing competition organised by Nusantara Arts – B3 in conjunction with Bulan Bahasa 2016. Their works have been transformed into an original musical works.

Also featured are two migrant workers, Bikas Nath from Bangladesh and Naive Logico Gascon from Philippines, who have earned themselves accolades in our local poetry scene. The recital will be accompanied by Nusantara, an ensemble by Nusantara Arts and Zulkifli Mohamed Amin as the Artistic Director for this programme.

Nusantara Arts presents a collection of poetry-turned-music. The selected works will be presented by the acclaimed Aidil Akmal who will interpret each into something unique.

The poetic musical works are composed by young composers such as Danial Ariffin Azman, Syafiqah ‘Adha Sallehin and Zulkifli Mohamed Amin, who is also the programme’s Artistic Director.

Nusantara Arts was established with the aim to bring together passionate young musicians who endeavour to promote the arts and culture. They take influences from the Malay Archipelago and mould them into something that is uniquely Singaporean. Their music is manipulated into traditional jazz and acoustic folk.
