Esplanade Presents: Red Dot August - Astronauts

Describing themselves as “voyagers of a new musical frontier”, the Astronauts galvanise old- school R&B with slick new-age funk. Formed in June 2016, the band is a quintet of like- minded musicians brought together by the love of all things funky and soulful. Within the next year, the boys released their debut single Get Close along with its accompanying music video.

Following the success of their first single, the Astronauts continue to shake up the music scene. Having opened for Tim DeCotta’s Warrior album launch in 2017, the band continues to play at various noteworthy music festivals in Singapore. To date, the band has shared the stage with notable artists such as Charlie Lim, Disco Hue and Stopgap. The Astronauts were also in the 2017 edition of the Noise Music Mentorship Program under the tutelage of Kevin Foo, a veteran of the local scene who has managed artists such as Linying, The Steve McQueens and Charlie Lim.

The Astronauts are currently working to release their debut EP. The second single off their EP, Kryptonite, peaked at #4 on Spotify Singapore’s Viral 50 list and is available on all major music streaming platforms.
