Esplanade Presents: Red Dot August - Shak and the Baits

Since its debut performance in 2016, Shak and the Baits has been a growing household name in Singapore. The band is led by Shak (or Shak'thiya), a spoken-word poetry artist– turned–singer-songwriter who chronicles his life story through his self-penned folk tunes and lyrics. Inspired by soul, blues, folk-pop and hip-hop, Shak’s rich, soulful voice conveys lyrics that will tug at the deepest recesses of your heart.

Shak and the Baits has been very fortunate to be given many opportunities to perform in several local and overseas venues such as Fringe Manila 2018, the Singapore Night Festival in 2016 and 2017, and Singapore River Festival 2017. Shak is also one of the featured artists in the National Day 2018 theme song, We Are Singapore.

This is the first live performance of Shak and the Baits at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, prior to the official release of Shak’s EP album
