Esplanade Presents: The Swingles (UK)

“Stunning reinventions of songs by the likes of John Martyn, Elbow and Mumford & Sons, with subtle beatboxing and audacious harmonies… superhero singing to truly raise goosebumps.” The Guardian

The legendary vocal group The Swingles make their Singapore debut at the Esplanade Concert Hall!

The five-time Grammy Award-winners put their vocal virtuosity and versatility on stunning display as they present a performance packed with classical anthems, Baroque instrumentals, and folk, pop and rock songs, featuring artists such as The Beatles and Elbow, and hits such as Libertango and Air on a G String.

In 1963, American-born Ward Swingle first assembled a group of Parisian session singers to sing Bach’s keyboard music, resulting in the album Jazz Sebastian Bach that launched them to fame. For more than half a century since then, The Swingles have pushed the boundaries of vocal music, amassing a repertoire featuring a huge variety of music that can be heard on their over 50 recordings, and on numerous film and TV soundtracks including Sex and the City, Grey’s Anatomy and Glee. Today, the seven young masters of their craft that make up the group are driven by the same innovative spirit that has defined the group since they first made waves in the ’60s.
