Huayi Chinese Festival Of The Arts 2019 presents in::music – Yoyo Sham “Nothing is Under Control” (Hong Kong)

Like how plants need the sun, this concrete jungle craves for a voice of comfort to soothe the pressures of a busy city. And the sound of Yoyo Sham is exactly what this urban generation needs.

Yoyo started as a backup vocalist for singer Eason Chan in 2010, and her moving solo rendition of The End of the World propelled her to prominence. She released her much-anticipated first full-length album here in 2015, with industry critics lauding it as one of the top 10 albums of that year. She also received a nomination for Best New Artist at the 2016 Golden Melody Awards.

Based in Taiwan, the deeply emotive singer is famous for her unique blend of dulcet tones and mellow tunes. Her song Chasing the Light was included in the soundtrack of popular Chinese idol drama Rush to the Dead Summer, and was streamed over 30 million times, further thrusting her into the limelight. A culmination of her personal and musical reflections, she released her latest album Nothing is Under Control in 2018.

After a seven-year absence, the talented Yoyo returns to our shores with her latest Nothing is Under Control showcase. Whether you have followed her since her early days as an emerging artist or if you were intrigued by Chasing the Light, we welcome you to join us in witnessing the charm of this indie darling as she shares her journey with you through her songs.
