 \n\n<p>Strongly influenced by the Taiwanese aboriginal music and language\,
  and melded with elements of reggae\, hip hop\, jazz\, folk\, rock\, and he
 avy metal\, his songs often give voice to socio-political issues in his tra
 demark tongue-in-cheek style.</p>\n\n<p>Matzka made his breakthrough with h
 is band MATZKA when he won the Taiwan Composition and Songwriting Contest i
 n 2008\, quickly going on to gain popularity through word-of-mouth. They op
 ened for Guns &lsquo\;n Roses in Taiwan\, and went on to be named Best Band
  at the Golden Melody Awards in 2011 and at the Chinese Media Awards in 201
 3. Since going solo\, Matzka has been nominated for Best Male Singer at the
  Golden Melody Awards in 2016\, and has brought his music overseas to festi
 vals in Shanghai\, SXSW in the US and Glastonbury Festival in the UK.</p>\n
