When J.B, Matty Wainwright, and Brendon P started this in 2009, the trio came up with the name DOOMPH at an old coffee shop just on the corner of Mohammed Sultan Road. It is actually the sound that the Kick (or Bass) Drum makes when the foot pedal hits it. And seeing that their sound represents underground Discos (think famous New York clubs like The Loft, Dancetaria, The Funhouse and The Paradise Garage), of which that Four-To-The Floor Kick Drum plays an integral part, they felt that this was the perfect name for their little night. The key was always never to focus only on the past, but to blend the classic stuff with new and forward-thinking music of which Disco played an important and influential part. For those who know, Disco and its electronic spin-offs (like Italo, some New wave, and the more Cosmic stuff) provided the inspiration and backbone for a lot of the House and Techno from the mid to late 80's, right up to present day.

And that's pretty much what DOOMPH represents, really. A matrix of all those stellar sounds. And with great new edits and re-works of some of those hugely influential 70's and post-70’s tunes from some amazing people in the industry today, it makes these current times very exciting for us as well. DOOMPH’s current line-up include their favourite little 'Disco-Martian' Stephen Day, who was brought in to replace Matty when he moved to Bali in 2012. Be warned though, he may be the shortest of the lot but on the decks, the man makes that BIG-BADDA-BOOM.
