Komura; Black & White Zine Fair
21 September 2019

Komura; Black & White Zine Fair

A collaboration between Warehouse Eight and Kwago, Komura; is organizing its first ever zine fair. The fair strips down the zine into its most basic radical format: several pages, black and white, loosely folded, and stapled together.

The radical zine format is not about nostalgia for all things analog and flashy printing techniques. It’s not about the art of bookmaking, binding or paper crafts. The radical zine format is not a mass product. It’s not art. The radical zine format is centered on concepts, ideas and spreading it to social networks (global and local) without the intervention of digital tools.

Independent and localized, the radical zine is about creating good content. It’s about democratizing information and production in an era marked by algorithm-based content and the rapid centralization of corporate media slaved by advertising.

More than anything else, the radical zine format is a celebration of free speech.
