The Lion City Brass Band was established in 2015 to promote brass music in Singapore and inspire young musicians to reach their full potential through exposure to world class brass literature and education. It also aims to provide a vibrant platform for brass educators to engage students and teachers alike in pedagogy, and contribute to Singapore’s development into a regional centre of excellence in brass education and musicianship.
Under the baton of music director ME4 Ignatius Wang, the band held its highly successful inaugural concert at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in 2016. The band was also invited to perform at the opening concert of the Singapore Low Brass Festival 2016, collaborating with world class soloists such as Adam Frey, Gary Curtin and Matyas Veer. Its recordings are frequently featured on the international radio show, Sunday Bandstand, and broadcast through radio stations in Australia, Cyprus, France, New Zealand, United Kingdom and USA.
